Alcaraz at Wimbledon

With Carlos Alcaraz headlining the dayโ€™s action at Wimbledon today, hereโ€™s a look at his previous record in the tournament.

The Spaniard made his debut at SW19 in 2021, losing in the second round to Daniil Medvedev, and the next year he beat todayโ€™s opponent, Jan-Lennard Struff, before losing to Jannik Sinner in the fourth round.

But his luck was to change in 2023, with the then-20-year-old beating Novak Djokovic in a mammoth five-set final to win the competition for the first time.

And he followed that with another win over the same opponent in the 2024 final, with the Spaniard now bidding to become just the fifth man in the Open Era to win Wimbledon three times in a row.

Wimbledon: How to get tennis tickets in queue and register for 2026 ballot

Wimbledon continues to be one of the only major sporting events where fans can get tickets on the day of play. The All England Club welcomes more than 40,000 fans per day.

With enough dedication, you can brave the queue at Wimbledon Park, near Southfields tube station, which is still a key part of the Wimbledon experience.

Fans can queue up – often camping overnight – in order to be at the front of the queue to obtain tickets for either Centre Court or Court 1 for the first 10 days of The Championships. Usually, there are 500 tickets available for Centre Court and 500 available for Court 1.

Fans are advised to go to the end of The Queue in Wimbledon Park to obtain a Queue Card. The card will be dated and numbered with your position in The Queue.

The real reason why players are only permitted to wear white at Wimbledon

They both wore Nike tops. Alcarazโ€™s was collarless, with horizontal blue bordered green and black stripes, and black shorts.

Meanwhile Sinner wore a green polo-style shirt with collar, blue shorts and a blue Nike cap. Sinnerโ€™s shirt bore more than a passing resemblance to an Irish rugby union top, and was seen by some as somewhat incongruous on a tennis court.
