Donald Trump has officially exercised his presidential authority to bring the Washington, D. C. police under federal command in a bid to “take our capital back”.

Proclaiming today as Liberation Day, Trump announced he was invoking Section 740 of the District of Columbia Home Rule Act to take control of the Washington, D. C. police and reclaim the capital. “You’ll be meeting the people directly involved with that,” Trump stated. The news comes as Trump promised a crackdown on crime in D.C.

“Very good people. But they’re tough and they know what’s happening and they’ve done it before.”

During a White House press conference on Monday, Trump also revealed plans to deploy the National Guard to assist in re-establishing “law” and “order” for “public safety” in the nation’s capital.

“And you all know people that, are friends of yours that, that happened,” he continued. “You want to be able to leave your apartment or your house where you live and feel safe… and you don’t have that now.”

What led to ‘Liberation Day’?

Trump had previously mentioned Edward Coristine in discussions about “federalizing” the government.

Edward Coristine, a 19 year old former employee of the Department of Government Efficiency, was attacked by nearly ten juveniles on Sunday, August 3, according to police reports.

The assault occurred near Dupont Circle at around 3 a. m. on Sunday, as detailed in a police report. The Irish Star obtained a copy of the report, which noted that police apprehended two 15 year olds trying to escape from the scene.

“Somebody from DOGE was very badly hurt last night. A young man who was beat up by a bunch of thugs in D.C. and either they’re gonna straighten their act out in terms of government and in terms of protection or we’re gonna have to federalize and run it the way its supposed to be run,” Trump said.

Prior to the gathering, Trump utilised Truth Social to outline his intentions, revealing his ambition to completely overhaul Washington, D. C.

“The Press Conference on Crime and “Beautification” will be held tomorrow, at 10:00 A.M. EST, in the Press Briefing Room, and it will not only involve ending the Crime, Murder, and Death in our Nation’s Capital, but will also be about Cleanliness and the General Physical Renovation and Condition of our once beautiful and well maintained Capital,” Trump posted on Truth Social.

He continued that Washington, D. C. has become “dirtier and less attractive” despite its mayor, Muriel Bowser, “trying” to address the issues.

“The Mayor of D.C., Muriel Bowser, is a good person who has tried, but she has been given many chances, and the Crime Numbers get worse, and the City only gets dirtier and less attractive.”

Trump concluded that he would transform Washington, D. C.

, to establish it as the “greatest capital in the world.

“The American Public is not going to put up with it any longer. Just like I took care of the Border, where you had ZERO Illegals coming across last month, from millions the year before, I will take care of our cherished Capital, and we will make it, truly, GREAT AGAIN!”.

“Before the tents, squalor, filth, and Crime, it was the most beautiful Capital in the World. It will soon be that again. Thank you for your attention to this matter – See you tomorrow at 10 A.M.!”.
