Amanda Anisimova hopes to send a positive message with US Open win
Amanda Anisimova says she hopes the way she bounced back from the Wimbledon final defeat sends a positive message on her to respond to difficult moments.
โI feel like I was really able to bounce back from it really quickly,โ she said. โMaybe a few years ago I wouldn’t have done the same as well as I have this time but it’s definitely nothing I’ve ever experienced before. I never lost 6-0, 6-0, and then to lose 6-0 6-0 in a Grand Slam final was a lot to experience.
โToday I’m just really, really proud of myself. I feel like I really made a point to myself and also maybe to other people that, like, if you really put a positive mindset out there or just try and work through things, then you can have a positive outcome. I feel like I was really able to do all the right things, so I’m really happy.โ

Amanda Anisimova rewatched Wimbledon final last night
In her press conference, Amanda Anisimova reveals she watched the Wimbledon final and her 6-0 6-0 defeat to Iga Swiatek last night, before facing her against in the US Open quarter-finals.
โLast night, nobody told me to, but I watched them back, as painful as it was. Just to see, what I can avoid or what went wrong. Then after I had to watch some good highlights to remove that from my brain.
โI think it was important for me to kind of see what happened last night going into today’s match. Back then it was just kind of, like, move on. It’s just kind of a freak thing that happened.
โI have family and friends. I still have the hard court swing to go. So it was kind of, just move on to the next.โ

Iga Swiatek reflects on US Open defeat to Amanda Anisimova
On what went wrong: โI think the serve what made the difference. She was winning, I guess, more points from her serve, and I struggled a bit to sometimes make the first serve in, and she returned the ball from second serve. So I guess that made a difference.โ
On facing Anisimova after the 6-0 6-0 at Wimbledon: โIt didn’t really matter for me. I think everybody knows how Amanda can play. She didn’t play well in Wimbledon, but it’s not like she’s always going to do the same mistakes or feel the same.
โI know that she’s a good player. She can play great tennis. So I was ready for a tough match.โ
