Last season was a bad one for Manchester City, perhaps the worst of Pep Guardiola’s career.

They haven’t quite hit their straps yet this term, but are in a better position and that is cause for optimism as far as the Spaniard is concerned — here is what he said in his pre-match press conference.

💬 “The numbers up front have to be better. They know it, but we have players with the ability to score goals, Rayan Cherki, Phil, they’re playing good but we have to find the big players with the impact.

“That’s why I’m optimistic in the position we’re in. In the Champions League, we’re in a better position than last season.

“We are six points off Arsenal, they look unstoppable right now, play fantastic are so solid and can score from many ways but outside of that we will make a step, be better and be closer.”
