Doctor claims Trump’s ‘limited’ scans may have looked at wrong area | Politics | News

President Donald Trump’s health report from his physician may be missing some key details, according to a medical expert. A memo was published earlier this month by Trump’s doctor, Dr Sean Barbabella, following months of speculation surrounding the President’s wellbeing.

In the document, Dr. Barbabella stated that Trump’s “cardiovascular imaging” was “perfectly normal.” He noted there was “no evidence of arterial narrowing impairing blood flow or abnormalities in the heart or major vessels.”

He further explained: “The heart chambers are normal in size, the vessel walls appear smooth and healthy, and there are no signs of inflammation, or clotting. Overall, his cardiovascular system shows excellent health.”

The report comes as the White House faces allegations of attempting to “cover up” bruising on Trump’s hands. Regarding Trump’s abdominal imaging, Dr. Barbabella stated this was also “perfectly normal.”

He commented: “All major organs appear very healthy and well-perfused. Everything evaluated is functioning within normal limits with no acute or chronic concerns.”

The memo also clarified that the “advanced imaging was performed because men in his age group benefit from a thorough evaluation of cardiovascular and abdominal health.”

Nevertheless, healthcare professionals have come forward to highlight that, while the memo appears comprehensive, what it fails to mention could provide further insight into Trump’s overall wellbeing.

Speaking to the Irish Star, Dr. Jeff Foster, medical director of Manual, suggested that the information released was not only limited but also potentially focused on the wrong part of Trump’s body.

He stated: “The information provided gives a limited indication of cardiovascular health only. It doesn’t even give a measure of heart disease.

“An MRI scan may give information about heart size, and heart failure, but you cannot see if arteries are blocked or damaged (it is not an angiogram), you cannot see if he has high cholesterol, diabetes, or even high blood pressure.

“Most importantly, if the question is related to brain function and questions over competency, you have simply scanned the wrong area.”

Dr. Jeff’s remarks came as Trump was seen with two large plasters on the back of his right hand during a cabinet meeting. This follows other instances of bruising on Trump’s hands earlier this year.

In response to speculation about the bruising, Dr. Barbabella described it as “a well-known and benign side effect” of aspirin therapy, according to the Independent.

Dr. Barbabella clarified: “This is consistent with minor soft tissue irritation from frequent handshaking and the use of aspirin, which is taken as part of a standard cardiovascular prevention regimen.”

Addressing the speculation about his health earlier this week, Trump told the assembled media: “You people are crazy. I’ll let you know when something is wrong. There will be some day – that’s going to happen to all of us.

“But right now, I think I’m sharper than I was 25 years ago, but who the hell knows. By the way, I took my physical, I got all As, everything.”
