Steps star Faye Tozer is to play three characters when she joins the cast of Mean Girls: The Musical for part of its tour.

The singer and actress, 50, joins the musical based on the hit film Mean Girls, which starred Lindsay Lohan, for its first UK and Republic of Ireland tour next year.

Tozer will play the mothers of both main characters, outsider Cady Heron (played by Emily Lane) and queen bee Regina George (Vivian Panka) as well as maths teacher Ms Norbury.

Wolverhampton Grand Theatre announced Tozer is to join the cast for the show’s run there from 23 June. She is set to also perform at 18 other venues, including in Manchester, Canterbury and Blackpool.

Actors Kiara Dario and Sophie Pourret are to play Gretchen and Karen respectively.

She found fame with pop group Steps, known for songs including Tragedy and 5, 6, 7, 8.
