Nigel Farage pledges to take on ‘globalist’ billionaires at Davos | Politics | News
Nigel Farage is set to face down billionaires at Davos tomorrow with a warning that their “globalist agenda” will come to an end under a Reform government. Mr Farage will speak at the annual gathering of the world’s most wealthy and powerful elite in Switzerland, as he also aims to speak sense to Donald Trump over his increasing threats over Greenland.
The Reform UK chief will speak directly after the US President at USA House tomorrow afternoon, in which he promises to deliver a brutal warning about what they should expect from his future government. Speaking to the Express, Mr Farage explained that his strategy at the summit will be “simply to say [Britain] has been the most craven country on earth to the globalist agenda – that ends now. We will talk to you, we will work with you, we will negotiate with you, but we will not follow your agenda on climate change, DEI, or anything else. Gone, done.”
The man ten points ahead in the polls quipped that he would issue the warning in a “very polite” way, avoiding his infamously insulting “European Parliament speech” reputation.
Mr Farage also claimed: “There’s a bit of a turn even [in Davos] going on. There’s some quite senior global business figures now can see which way the wind is blowing.
“So it’s an important trip I think.”
His first official visit to Davos comes after years of vocally criticising the summit, condemning it as a place of “people deciding our futures in Swiss ski resorts”.
In 2020 Mr Farage said: “All the arguments for globalism have been there at Davos for 50 years or more – no space for the little man, no space for the nation state, no space for the small entrepreneur.”
After years of parading his close friendship with President Trump, Mr Farage revealed he will also use the summit to issue a stark warning to the US, amid widespread fears about the future of NATO.
After weeks of threats about invading Greenland, Mr Farage insisted he will be “very praiseworthy of America removing enemies of the west like Madura, the Iranian regime – love all that.”
However he will demand: “Please, don’t threaten your friends.”
While Sir Keir Starmer has said he has no plans to attend the ski resort’s gathering of business chiefs, Chancellor Rachel Reeves addressed the forum yesterday with a pledge that Britain remains “the best place in the world to invest”.
Ms Reeves insisted: “In a volatile world Britain stands out. This government is making sure Britain is home to the stability, talent and capital that businesses and investors want and that drive greater growth.
“Some countries give you a platform, but Britain gives you momentum.”
The Chancellor is set to use the summit to meet with some of the world’s richest investors, including Mario Greco of Zurich Insurance, Stephen Schwarzman of Blackstone Inc, and Jamie Dimon of JP Morgan.
