Politics LIVE: Labour women fury at Keir Starmer in paedophile row | Politics | News
A Cabinet minister has hit out at Labour briefings โdripping with misogynyโ as Sir Keir Starmer was urged to appoint a woman as his de facto deputy in Government.
Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy said women in the party had been targeted anonymously by men and added, โweโve all got a responsibility to stamp it outโ.
The Prime Minister held talks in an attempt to reassure senior Labour female politicians, after a string of scandals that critics say exposed a โboysโ clubโ within No 10. But anger has continued to grow.
Sir Keir is facing fury over the appointment of Matthew Doyle, his former communications chief, to the House of Lords. Lord Doyle had the Labour whip removed and apologised for campaigning for paedophile councillor Sean Morton in 2017, after Morton had been charged with having indecent images of children.
And it comes after Sir Keir admitted he knew Peter Mandelson had remained friends with sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, when he appointed Mandelson as ambassador to the US.
