Rachel Reeves is ‘crushing’ Britain’s future with her incompetence | Politics | News
Britain stands at a crossroads, and under Keir Starmerโs Labour, the signs are pointing toward a cold, stagnant future. The latest data from the Office for National Statistics confirms what families across the country already feel at the kitchen table: the engine of our economy is seizing up.
In a year of economic incompetence, Starmer and Reeves have presided over a P45 Government that has seen 134,000 payrolled jobs vaporised. Unemployment has climbed to 5.2% – the highest itโs been since the pandemic, and the dream of a steady paycheque is slipping away for thousands. This decline is not an accident, itโs a choice.
We are witnessing the predictable result of a front bench that lacks even a shred of real-world business experience.
By increasing the cost of hiring, it is now clear that Labourโs Jobs Tax is the silent killer of British aspiration.
I know the value of that aspiration because I have lived it. When I left university, I didnโt go into politics. I built something.
I started businesses from scratch. From the kitchen table, bringing teams together with a common purpose. Building companies here and in the United States. Back then, we had leaders like Nigel Lawson cutting taxes and removing red tape. The spirit of the age was enterprise.
Contrast that with todayโs grim reality. The CIPD warns that 37% of employers are now slashing recruitment due to the reckless Employment Rights Act. Labour has made hiring a liability, crushing the futures of young people in hospitality and retail.
While Labour fails, we must avoid the siren calls of Reform. Their brand of fantasy economics offers no sanctuary. It is a populist Farage Mirage that would only deepen the chaos. Reformโs sums never add up – and as Lee Anderson said: Reform are โnot interested in the numbersโ.
Britain needs a plan for a stronger economy – and a government with the backbone to deliver it.
The Conservatives have that plan – to break the vicious cycle of more spending, more borrowing, and more taxes. Labour are pumping up the size of the state – we would get spending under control with a fully costed plan to save ยฃ47 billion, allowing us to cut the deficit and cut taxes as well.
Millions are crying out for a return to sound money and the reward of hard work. We can restore that spirit of opportunity and enterprise. But under this government, we are going in exactly the opposite direction. Labour isn’t working.
