President Trump took another swipe at the UK after he posted a Saturday Night Live clip that appeared to mock Prime Minister Keir Starmer on his Truth Social account.
In the sketch, the actor portraying a trembling Starmer is apprehensive about speaking to Donald Trump because he might “shout at me.” Once he answers the phone, the actor playing Trump says “hello?” and is immediately hung up on as the Prime Minister screams.
It’s subsequently revealed in the comedy routine that Starmer is frightened of rejecting the U.S. president’s demands for British warships to be deployed to the Persian Gulf to help reopen the vital Strait of Hormuz.
“I just hate conflict so much,” the SNL UK actor says.
This follows another one of Trump’s scathing attacks on the UK prime minister as he grows increasingly frustrated with US allies and their approach to his confrontation with Iran, which they’ve declined to support.

On St. Patrick’s Day, whilst meeting with Irish Taoiseach Micheรกl Martin in the Oval Office, Trump suddenly gestured towards a bust of former British prime minister Winston Churchill that was positioned on a table behind him.
“You see that man right there? You know who that is? The late, great Winston Churchill,” the president said. “And, unfortunately, Keir is not Winston Churchill,” Trump continued.
The president told reporters on Monday that he was “not happy” with the UK and that it “should be involved enthusiastically” in efforts to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Trump described the UK as “the Rolls-Royce of allies” and remarked that there were “some countries that greatly disappointed me” during a press conference later that day.

When Trump opted to begin attacking Iran with Israel in February, he largely bypassed diplomatic coordination. However, he is now calling upon NATO and other world powers to assist in addressing the situation as the conflict has substantial geopolitical and economic consequences.
According to the president, he has asked that approximately six other nations send warships to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a vital passage that handles one-fifth of the world’s oil trade. However, no one has committed as yet.
“We strongly encourage other nations whose economies depend on the strait far more than ours … we want them to come and help us with the strait,” Trump said Monday, listing Japan, China, South Korea and several European countries.
Trump has insisted that because the U.S. has its own oil supply, the shipping channel is not essential.
There is scant evidence that other nations will respond to Trump’s appeal as oil prices surge and violence continues to erupt throughout the Middle East.
