World Cup 2026 news live updates: Latest on final qualifying matches, ticket information and more
After a 90-minute weather delay, Canada finally squared off against Tunisia Tuesday night in Toronto for its second pre-World Cup international friendly.
In front of a raucous crowd of 22,624 at BMO Field, the game ended goalless as Canada finished this international window with two draws.
The first half featured breathtaking pace from both teams. Tani Oluwaseyi, Canadaโs forward who plays for Villarreal CF in La Liga, fired the first shot on target in the fourth minute of the match. The hosts finished with 14 total shots.
The best moment of the contest came in the 34th minute. After a defensive breakdown from Kamal Miller and Joel Waterman, Tunisia had two players on the attack, with Canadian goalkeeper Maxime Crepeau the last line of defense.
Liam Millar, Canadaโs midfielder, sprinted from his own half to block Tunisia’s two-on-none and prevent an almost certain goal. Jesse Marsch, Canadaโs manager, celebrated like his team had scored a goal.
๐ฌ โI think it was a defining play for what we’re trying to be.โ
The second half was tighter, with few scoring chances for both countries. As Crepeau said after the match, โTonight felt like the World Cup… very tight games with small margins making a difference.โ
Canada has two remaining international friendlies before its first World Cup group stage match.
The next time the Canadian menโs national team plays on BMO Field, it will be against Bosnia and Herzegovina on June 12 to open Group B action at the World Cup.
