DALLAS โ Minnesota Wild winger Yakov Trenin, the NHLโs hit leader during the regular season with a team record 413, was injured with 5 minutes, 13 seconds left in the first period Monday night in Game 2 of Minnesotaโs playoff series with the Dallas Stars.
Trenin was caught in the neutral zone waiting to receive a pass from defenseman Zach Bogosian. Facing the other way, Trenin was crushed with a perfectly-timed open-ice hit by Dallasโ Colin Blackwell the moment the pass reached him.
It was a shoulder-to-shoulder check, one that left Trenin down on the ice for several moments. Athletic trainer John Worley helped him to the locker room with a towel over his face.

Trenin, who had 13 hits in Game 1, had the second-highest single-season regular-season hit total since the NHL began tracking the stat in 2005-06.
The Wild were already playing without Mats Zuccarello with an upper-body injury.
