Andy ‘U-turn’ Burnham says he agrees with Farage – how dumb does he th | Politics | News
Last month, Andy Burnham retreated from his call to scrap a restriction on immigrants claiming benefits. Now ‘open borders’ Andy Burnham is at it again.
So desperate to win over Reform voters in Makerfield, the would-be Labour PM said he would expand illegal immigrant detention.
Burnham allies suggest he would rip up billion-pound accommodation contracts to house thousands of migrants in hotels.
On this point, Burnham told BBC Radio Manchester: “I do agree with what [Nigel] Farage is saying. What weโve got to do is get back to a sense of order.”
Hold on. Isn’t this the man who once called for an end to the rule preventing immigrants from access to benefits or housing before being granted settled status in the UK?
Isn’t this the man who signed a statement supporting Black Lives Matter, but this year disavowed โtaking the kneeโ?
Isn’t this the man who once advocated for trans women to be able to use female bathrooms, only to U-turn?
And again, the same man who accused the Government of being “in hock to the bond markets” then pledged to stick to Rachel Reevesโs fiscal rules, only to U-turn on his earlier U-turn a few days ago and say those fiscal rules are up for debate?
It’s almost as if Burnham says what he thinks is needed to win over whoever he needs to win over at any moment. Now running in a Brexit-voting seat, he has decided to respect the Leave vote despite advocating to Rejoin.
As for Burnham’s claim that net migration is down, big whoop! That’s because the number of Brits leaving is rising. The number of non-European migrants coming is still sky high.
It may have come down slightly from the Tory years, but that’s just a sad indictment of Conservative failure rather than evidence of any Labour success!
And yes, let’s not forget the Tory disaster! The Sudanese ‘asylum seeker’ who tried to murder a local Belfast man this week was let in to our country under the Conservatives.
So yeah, to hell with the toxic Tories!
As for Burnham, who is he kidding? U-turn after U-turn, all in a bid to win over Makerfield’s voters, and now apparently he agrees with Nigel Farage?
How dumb does he think we are?
