Andy Burnham’s off sunning himself while back home Britain boils | Politics | News
The newly coronated PM is sunning himself on holiday while Britain burns. And I’m not just talking about the weather. There is no sign Andy Burnham will reverse his predecessor’s one-in, one-out migrant policy with France, given he retained Shabana Mahmood as Home Secretary.
Yet government figures from August 4, 2025, to June 30, 2026, show 1,087 people were returned to France under the scheme, compared to 1,117 people transferred to the UK. That means the UK has accepted 30 more migrants than have been returned. In response, Reform UK Shadow Home Secretary Zia Yusuf said: “These numbers are pathetic. We’ve taken in 30 more migrants than we’ve sent to France under this scheme. Meanwhile 2,000 illegal migrants have arrived on our shores in Burnham’s first two weeks, and more than 200,000 have been welcomed in by Tory and Labour governments since 2018.”
Yusuf added: “Instead of continuing to send France billions of pounds of taxpayer cash, we must eliminate the pull factors by starting a programme of mass deportations and deploying the Royal Navy to intercept migrant boats in the Channel. Anything less is a complete capitulation.”
Former military bigwigs may decry Reform’s plans to use the Royal Navy to escort illegal immigrants back to France due to a lack of ships and the fact we remain tied to the European Convention on Human Rights.
And who is to blame for this? Here’s looking at you Labour and Tory uniparty! Frankly, only Reform is serious about fixing this crisis and has any chance of forming a government to do it (hence why Restore Britain has put out an olive branch to Nigel Farage).
The Tories had their chance and blew it. Meanwhile Labour couldn’t run a bath let alone a competent immigration policy. And, for the record, what Reform plans would merely bring us into line with developed democratic Asian countries like Japan, Korea, Singapore and Taiwan. No illegals there!
France is not at war. It is a safe country. There is zero need for arrivals to claim bogus asylum in the UK. These folks need to be booted out and it’s up to our chums in the EU what happens next. Do we want the UK to look more like those scenes in Ceuta than it already is? Starmer to Burnham is a distinction without a difference.
Andy will come back with a tan and a video. Meanwhile his nation cooks.
