Speaking to a packed audience at the “Farage-Fest” Reform UK event in Clacton-on-Sea at 3am while the votes were still being counted, leader and candidate Nigel Farage of Reform UK dramatically revealed he would not be attending the vote count for the by election after receiving a police notice on “disruption” to the democratic process.

Widely expected to win against his main rival – the joke candidate Count Binface – the main parties shunned the by-election Mr Farage triggered by resigning as an MP in response to allegations he failed to declare a £5million windfall provided by crypto investor Christopher Harborne.

Farage revealed he had been contacted by Essex Police in relation to the by-election result.

“There is an organised campaign to disrupt and degrade the result that will take place in a few hours time” he said.

“And once again it shows you the sheer intolerance, the sheer loss of democratic principles, that those who went before us fought in world wars to fight for and preserve.

“And this shows you why the battle we are fighting for in this great party and movement of ours is to get this country back to the values it needs to be.

“I’m not scared of these people, far from it. But I’ll be damned if I’ll stand on this stage having won an outstanding victory, a ringing endorsement of everything I’ve tried to fight for, you’ve tried to fight for and be demeaned and humiliated.

He continued: “Which means I will not be attending the count. I’ll be here all night!”

Earlier in his speech, Mr Farage said: “I have asked the people of Clacton to be my jury, and the verdict has now come in.”

To chants of “Nigel-Nigel” Farage asked for calm before revealing that Reform had: “On the hottest day of the year, in the middle of August, in holiday season, we have secured more votes than we got in the general election of 2024.

“And in doing so we have beaten the candidate for the uni-party. Yes there were Liberal Democract, Labour and Conservative canvessers out canvassing for Count Binface.

“What an upside-down world it is where Count Binface is now the candidate for the establishment.

“You literally couldn’t make it up.”

Farage went on to explain that because there were 34 candidates standing, the results would probably not be returned until six or seven in the morning on Friday.

“But there’s no question about the result,” he said.

He continued, “On May 7th we crushed the Conservative Party. In the north of England we wiped out the Labour Party. In Wales we became the official opposition. In Scotland we’re the joint opposition.

“And they decided if they could beat us by fair means they would try to beats us by foul means.

“Today the voters of Clacton have stuck two fingers up at the entire political establishment.”

Farage then expressed his thanks to his supporters who he called his “beloved people’s army” and paid tribute to murdered MP and political fellow-traveller Ann Widdecombe, whose funeral was on Thursday and who he said was killed for her “deep Christian convictions”.

He blamed, “an intolerance that had swept though the left-wing politics of Britain” for Widdecombe’s death, “aided, abetted and incited every single days by broadcasters and national newspapers.”

Farage then stated that the investigation into Widdecomb’s murder had been widened to include matters he had been involved in.

“When the truth comes out the public will be truly, truly shocked,” he said.
