Robert Jenrick chases another ‘shoplifter’ in second horrifying video โ โget off me bruv! | Politics | News
Robert Jenrick has chased a second alleged shoplifter in a video highlighting the scourge of shop theft plaguing the UK. The Reform UK MP pursues a woman he accused of stealing from a Greggs in Brixton, south London, in the latest in a series of social media clips.
The woman can be seen storming past Reform’s economy spokesman, telling him “so what” after he accuses her of snatching 10 bottles from the eatery. Mr Jenrick can be heard asking her: “Do you want to go and take them back?” To which she replies: “Allow me bruv. What the f*** has it got to do with you?”
Undeterred, the politician says: “Well you can swear at me as much as you like, but you’re still nicking a load of stuff.” The video then jumps to what appears to show the woman pushing Mr Jenrick’s hand away from her, yelling: “Get off me, bruv.”
The MP for Newark, who carries on pursuing her, says: “Honestly, people like you should be in jail and you would be under a Reform government.”
Mr Jenrick said he was motivated to act as he was sick of seeing “brazen” shoplifting and “nothing ever happening”. He added: “In fact, the Government is making it worse by letting prisoners out early.
“The shoplifting epidemic is forcing the cost of the weekly food shop up by ยฃ50 for British families. Itโs outrageously unfair. Reform will come down on shoplifters like a tonne of bricks so we can lower food prices and give families some relief.”
Official figures show police forces across England and Wales, not including British Transport Police, recorded 502,011 shoplifting offences in 2025-26. Over half those cases were closed without a suspect being identified, according to the BBC.
Poundland co-founder, Steve Smith, estimated in September that shoplifting costs businesses ยฃ18billion per year and forces retailers to increase prices. He said retail businesses face the greatest challenge over shoplifting since 2003.
It is not the first time Mr Jenrick has posted clips of alleged wrongdoing on social media. When he was shadow justice secretary for his former party he confronted people who pushed past ticket barriers on the London Underground.
The Government’s Crime and Policing Act came into force earlier this year. It includes making it an offence to assault retail workers and scrapping a threshold that classed shop thefts of ยฃ200 or less as minor offences.
The Metropolitan Police was approached for comment.
