Andy Burnham is turning out to be a bigger liar, trickster and conman than Keir Starmer ever was – and in a much shorter time.

This week, he said it was clear there had been Russian interference in the Brexit Referendum. We heard him say it on a political podcast.

Twenty-four hours later Downing Street issued a panicky statement saying there had been absolutely no interference. The referendum was totally legit.

But then, later in the Commons, Burnham tried to say he’d never said it in the first place: “I implied no such thing,” he said. No matey. You didn’t imply it – you said it.

What in God’s name is wrong with the man? Does he think we’re all deaf, dumb and stupid. Or is that just him?

This is so typical of detestable little socialists like Burnham who believe that anyone who disagrees with them is stupid, ill-informed and doesn’t know the facts.

Does Burnham not know the head of MI5 has said there is no evidence of Kremlin interference in the referendum? A report by Parliament’s own Intelligence and Security committee says there wasn’t. Numerous Labour ministers have said there wasn’t. So, where’s his evidence that there was?

Or did Burnham purposely spin conspiracy theories about Brexit because he thought it would justify him disrespecting and trampling over the biggest democratic vote this country has seen? Does he think the British people are so thick they would swallow any fantastical nonsense he chose to peddle?

This week made clear that we have a not very smart, unelected PM who is making up unsubstantiated stories because he wants to justify handing over responsibility for our country back to Brussels so that he doesn’t have to deal with it.

Remainers like him cannot and never will accept that great swathes of the British people wanted to be free of those sneering, unelected charlatans in Brussels. We wanted our sovereignty back. And THAT’S what Brexiteers voted for. We didn’t vote Leave because we didn’t understand the arguments.

And anyone with half a brain can see that leaving has been the best thing we could have done. Successive Governments have not made the best use of our freedoms, but in spite of that, our economy grew faster than Germany, Italy and France’s last year. And we’ve grown consistently faster than Germany and Italy in the 10 years since we left the EU.

We’ve also struck 70 stupendous trade deals – some of them way better than the deals the EU had with those countries. Deals we’d have to ditch if we re-joined.

AI tech here is rocketing, unlike in the EU, where its own rules are holding back progress. And the OBR’s prediction that the UK would lose 4% of its GDP just hasn’t happened. So, when Burnham says “Brexit has done more harm than good” what the Hell is he talking about?

Britain has done way better than a block that’s now in terminal economic decline.

And that’s not me saying that – its renowned economist Mario Draghi, the man who saved the Euro and Italy’s PM for 13 years who in 2024 wrote an excoriating report saying the EU is in terminal decline, has ever-decreasing geopolitical influence and power and cannot compete with big players like US and China.

“The EU can no longer suffer illusions of grandeur,” he said.

Yet, here we have Andy Burnham crawling on his belly to join a bloc that globally is seen as a busted flush.

And have Burnham and all the other Remainers not realised the EU isn’t the liberal, left-leaning bloc we left in 2016? Most of the major countries have done a violent lurch to the Right. France is about to elect Marine Le Pen as president, and the Far Right AfD in Germany is making big gains.

Spain is also moving to the Right. Openly nationalist and Eurosceptic parties aren’t just gaining popularity, they’re leading in the polls. So, while here in Britain Labour gets freaked out by the rise of Nigel Farage and Reform over in the EU the ACTUAL Far Right – which Reform isn’t – is rocketing. How’s Eyelash Andy going to cope with that?

I’m convinced that if we had another referendum, Brits would yet again vote to Leave. Because while a recent You Gov poll said 59% supported rejoining the EU in principle when those people were confronted with the reality of what that would mean – that we wouldn’t get the opt outs or the special benefits we previously had, that we’d lose the pound, we’d have to take more migrants and asylum seekers from outside Europe, pay billions more in contributions and become rule takers again – the figure plummeted to just 34%.

But what’s frightening here is that it’s becoming clear that Mr Nice Guys lies to get what he wants. Remember what he told the good people of Makerfield – a staunch Leave constituency – when he was begging for their vote? He vowed not to unpick Brexit because he said: “Brexit is done.”

And now he’s doing exactly that. Do the people who voted for him feel like mugs now? They should because they HAVE been mugged off by a bloke who lied to their faces in order to get into Number 10, and now, he’s there, he’s betraying them just like he’s betraying Brexiteers.

Like Starmer, Burnham is stupid – but he’s way more dangerous because Starmer didn’t have a plan, an agenda, Burnham has, and top of that agenda is rejoining the EU.

He even had the brass neck this week to say it would be a “dereliction of duty” not to have closer ties with the EU. What tosh!! Burnham’s duty is to respect the democratic will of the British people who voted in their millions to leave the EU. And that vote wasn’t won by a whisper – it was won by a decisive 17,410.743M to 16,141.241. That’s a clear majority of 1,269.501 million votes.

His duty is to protect the UK economy and rejoining the failing, dysfunctional EU will not do that. There is no “close economic tie” with the EU that will not make us poorer.

His duty is also to protect our national security and rejoining EU will not allow us to do that either. It is thanks to the EU’s failure to control its countries’ borders that we now have hordes of people invading our shores every day.

And look how much we’re paying France NOT to stop the boats – it’s been the thick of a billion quid in the last three years. Look how Macron makes fools of us and takes our money for doing nothing. Look at that scenario and multiply it 27 times – that’s the number of countries in the EU who will rob us blind on a daily basis.

But the most important thing here, unpicking Brexit, is a grotesque betrayal of the British people by a man who snatched power by pretending to be Man of the People! Talk about being conned!
