Super Bowl 2026 live updates: Latest reaction, news and odds for Seattle Seahawks vs. New England Patriots
Not typically one for hyperbole, Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald was effusive in his praise of Sam Darnold, noting how well the quarterback played despite being limited by an oblique injury.
โTo come out the way he played for barely practicing, barely throwing the ball, is really incredible,โ Macdonald said with a laugh. โIt should go down as one of the best performances in playoff history, I imagine. Itโs hard to stack it, but I canโt imagine anyone playing any better.โ
In a follow-up question, Macdonald was asked about the narrative of Darnold making big mistakes in big games. He interrupted the reporter to say,
โYeah, I love it. Keep talking. Everyone wants to make a narrative about this guy, but heโs been the same guy since he walked in the door,โ Macdonald said. โYou donโt want me writing the stories, because I would not write the narratives that are out there. I would be really boring, like, โThis guyโs the man. And his teammates love him, and heโs competitive as crap, and heโs tough. And heโs really talented. And heโs a winner.โ That would be the story.โ
He added with a smile, โSo donโt let me write the story.โ
