Green Party activists brand Jews ‘abomination to this planet’ in leak | Politics | News

Shocking antisemitic comments have surfaced in leaked WhatsApp messages from a pro-Palestine faction inside the Green Party, prompting fresh accusations of deep-rooted hatred within the party. Activists in the group Greens for Palestine described Jewish people as โ€œan abomination to this planetโ€ and accused them of murdering, bombing and starving children.

One participant insisted on openly identifying protesters in Golders Green as Jews rather than Zionists, declaring: โ€œThey were Jews and we shouldnโ€™t be afraid to say it. They were Jewish supremacists.โ€ The exchange escalated with the claim: โ€œEnough of being scared of hurting their feelings while they murder, bomb and starve children.โ€

Another member added: โ€œThey are an abomination to this planet,โ€ while a further comment called for activists to โ€œtake back the narrative and the true meaning of the terms, particularly zionism and semite.โ€

Separately, one activist linked to the group suggested the arson attack on four Hatzolah ambulances belonging to a Jewish charity in Golders Green was a โ€œfalse flagโ€ operation, potentially staged by Jewish people themselves.

The individual shared news coverage of the incident and noted: โ€œI saw somebody recently say that false flags were coming.โ€

Tope Olawoyin, standing as a Green council candidate in Havering in the May 7 local elections, amplified conspiracy theories on X, reported GB News. She shared material claiming โ€œproof that the Golders Green ambulance attack was an inside jobโ€ and reposted content labelling the arson a โ€œfalse flagโ€ that had proved โ€œa monumental disaster.โ€

After the Metropolitan Police arrested two British men aged 47 and 45 on suspicion of the attack, Ms Olawoyin wrote: โ€œI can say with almost absolute certainty that the men arrested are white, probably even Jewish, because we all know for a fact that if they werenโ€™t their names and pictures would be EVERYWHERE.โ€

The suspects, both British nationals, were later released on bail as the investigation continues. Police have treated the early-morning blaze, which destroyed ambulances parked near a synagogue in north London, as an antisemitic hate crime.

The Campaign Against Antisemitism condemned the messages as โ€œstraight out of Nazi Germanyโ€ and confirmed its lawyers are examining the remarks. A spokesman said: โ€œThe real question is whether the Green Party is going to do anything about people who believe Jews are an abomination… Doing nothing will be the real abomination.โ€

Labour peer Lord Katz called the evidence โ€œdeeply troubling,โ€ while Conservative chairman Kevin Hollinrake labelled the language โ€œutterly appallingโ€ and accused the Greens of tolerating antisemitism.

Greens for Palestine rejected the interpretation, insisting the โ€œabominationโ€ comment referred only to Zionists and related to the situation in Gaza, not Jewish people as a whole.

The disclosures emerge despite a recent briefing from Green co-leader Zack Polanski warning activists against posting material that could be portrayed as antisemitic. The document advised members not to โ€œtake the baitโ€ from opponents who would smear them as โ€œunpleasant, vengeful anti-Semites.โ€ Mr Polanski authored the document to protect the party’s reputation.

As reported by GB News, the leaks have intensified scrutiny on the partyโ€™s handling of extremism ahead of the local elections.

A Green Party spokesman said: “This exchange does not represent Green Party views.

“It is not a green party group but we have asked the group to take it down.”
