Rupert Lowe doesn’t operate in the real world โ yet he risks so much harm to it | Politics | News
I don’t know Rupert Lowe. I met the man once very briefly in 2020. But what I can say is if Lowe really cares about his country then he needs to realise he’s risking handing a victory to Labour in Makerfield and potentially helping to rob Reform of victory nationally. For those who think Reform is watering down its commitments on say immigration, I see no evidence. Only one party with any realistic shot at power is credibly going to stop the boats. And it is not Restore! Nigel Farage operates in the real world, not just the online one.
A world in which he must appeal to a broader base and, should we win power, put together a practical legislative agenda, not just right-wing talking points. We saw this recently with Reform MP Danny Kruger setting out a serious plan to overhaul Whitehall. Reform also has the beginnings of a shadow team. Restore has none of this. A vote for the latter can only let Labour in through the middle. And that is exactly what could happen in Makerfield!
Politics must be practical in the pursuit of power. Voters know Restore has zero chance of winning the Makerfield by-election or a national poll. Do Restore voters really want to cut their noses off to spite their faces and hand victory to Open Borders Andy? Really?
If Lowe really wants to turn the UK around then why help the Establishment parties? Even the Greens are mulling pacts with Labour to keep out the Right: even Zack Polanski understands the need to compromise in the pursuit of practical change.
Those who want an end to open borders and lawlessness must back the one party with a realistic shot of power who can actually do something about this mess. That can only be Reform. No other party is worth the vote.
