‘I won Gladiators – now I’d love to become one’
Now he is trying to get ready for the games again, this time for the live tour.
It starts in Aberdeen this weekend and includes four shows in front of a home Glasgow crowd later this month.
“You can’t go into a gym and just practice Duel, so what I am trying to do just now is focus on staying fit and healthy in general,” he says.
“I’ve been at the local climbing centre trying to prepare for the Wall as that was the game I struggled with the most.
“In training I had been one of the quickest, and I’d thought to myself ‘oh I’ll get 10 points here’ and then I messed it up every single time.
“I don’t know if it was the pressure that got to me, as it’s different when you have a Gladiator behind you, or maybe I just had too high expectations.
“I’m determined to do better on the tour.”
Getting back involved with Gladiators was not something Josh – who proudly displays the trophy from the show on a table in his living room – had to think twice about.
“I’d have Gladiators champion tattooed on my forehead if I could so I bit their hand off to do it,” he said.
“Doing the TV show was one of the highlights of my entire life and something I’ll never forget so having the opportunity to relive it in Scotland is so exciting.”
