Kemi Badenoch’s right on a lot of stuff but never more so when she said this country’s lunatic net zero policies will bankrupt Britain. She calls them “political fiction”. And we all know the author of that fiction – the crazed climate change loon Ed Miliband who thank God has now been relieved of his “bankrupting Britain” duties.

With Miliband gone Andy Burnham has now said he’ll allow more North Sea drilling and experts have predicted that alone could generate an extra £25billion in extra tax over the next decade and support thousands of jobs. But isn’t it time we ditched all the net zero targets and Green energy subsidies because they’re useless and self-defeating? Miliband promised us his maniacal policies would slash £300 off our energy bills – instead they rocketed and we now have some of the most expensive energy in the civilised world.

Miliband – as with all eco-zealots – could never quite grasp that even if we achieved all his net zero targets it wouldn’t make a damn bit of difference to global warming. We’ve already lost that war and trying to ban towel rails and tumble dryers is like putting an Elastoplast on a burst dam. As is his insistence that we all drive electric cars, have £14,000 boilers and kill all the farting cows. It’s fantastical nonsense to think any of that will halt global warming.

Yes, climate change is real but there’s absolutely beggar-all Britain can do about it. We produce just 0.8% of global emissions while China produces 32% and pumps out more Co2 now than it did 20 years ago.

Yes, Britain has cut its emissions by 44% in the last 20 years, but it’s made beggar-all difference. We’re still facing a drought; there have been three so-called heatwaves so far this summer here and in Europe. And while the climate change harpies are rushing to blame the spate of wildfires on climate change, the Global Wildfire Information System says this year’s wildfires this year have been the LOWEST since records began in 2012.

The bottom line is “climate change” is the go-to excuse for politicians everywhere who haven’t taken the proper measures to prevent wildfires. Ditto those water companies who have imposed hosepipe bans. That’s got nothing to do with climate change. It’s down to their ancient, leaky systems which leak a TRILLION litres of water a year.

What our politicians should be doing for us – but more importantly for the economy – is helping this country adapt to hotter weather. Operations in hospitals are currently being cancelled, as are vital blood tests because of loony net-zero guidance on air-conditioning units which is madness. So, we let people die because the nugget Miliband puts net-zero restrictions on air-con?

We also need to put air-con in all new flats and houses. We need to look after our fields and forests to reduce the risk of fires and we must ditch all the green energy subsidies – which add 12% to every energy bill.

Britain can’t fix global warming – whatever we do. And for those people who say we should forget what the rest of the world is doing and at least try – that’s stupid. Because we have to judge our net zero policies on their real-world impact and consequences. And the fact is, our insane, cripplingly expensive, nonsensical policies are having no global impact whatsoever because whatever we do is immediately wiped out by what China does – but they’re crippling our economy.

Many countries are following sensible, properly-paced Co2 reduction policies which is the way to go. Our mad rush to net zero has to stop. But although the madman Miliband has gone, he’s been replaced by an even bigger eco-zealot called Miatta Fahnbullah so the lunacy will continue.
