Argentina stun England with late comeback to reach World Cup final: Live updates
Let’s hear from England manager Thomas Tuchel, who was asked by the BBC about the tactical changes he made in the second half before Argentina’s comeback.
๐ฌ โWe’re disappointed. We got so close but we got too passive after we scored and conceded a lot of chances and could not turn possession around.
โWe conceded so, so many crosses and chances and shots. We were close but couldn’t keep the level up after we scored. I did also offensive substitutions in the last game. We just tried to help the players. We conceded straight away.
โWe decided to go to a back five because the gaps were far too open, they won every header, they kept crossing and crossing so we went to a back five to close the gaps inside and be strong in the air.
โStraight after our goal with no substitutions we just conceded way too many crosses and way too many chances.
โWe tried to help but of course the responsibility is on the coach. If it doesn’t go well it’s easy to say that it was wrong.โ
