An angry Question Time viewer has lambasted eco-warrior Dale Vince over comments he made about the Israel-Gaza conflict.

Vince was appearing on the BBC programme and answering a question about Donald Trump when he claimed that “America is behind the genocide” that he believes is taking place in the region.

His comments provoked an angry response from one audience member who drew the millionaire’s attention to the October 7 attacks by Hamas terrorists which acted as the catalyst for a war which has left thousands dead.

The man fumed: “Can I take issue with you over you saying that genocide is being caused in Palestine, how dare you say that?

“Genocide happened to six million Jews in the second world war, where is the equivalence?

“Did you mention the atrocities that happened on the 7^th of October when Hamas invaded Israel and killed innocent women, children. The bayonetted children.

“Do you understand that? How dare you say that? You are ill-informed my friend.”

The surprise Hamas assault into Israel left more than 1,500 people dead and saw 251 people taken hostage inside Gaza by the monstrous terrorist organisation.

Many of these hostages subsequently died in captivity whilst others still remain captive.

The former Just Stop Oil backer mumbled in response that he was aware of the depraved attack but that since then “the brutalisation of Palestine has taken 150,000 live and injuries”.

He added: “90% of the population has been displaced there has been famine and all kinds of problems.”

Vince then went on to repeat the contested claim that Palestinians were held captive in their own country before the war, a claim that alludes to Israel’s control of the borders around Gaza but is much disputed.

Genocide is defined by the United Nations as “any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such: Killing members of the group; Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group; Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part; Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group; Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group.”
