College Football Playoff rankings live updates: Which teams will make up the Top 25?

We won’t get a straight answer, but a looming question is how the committee will handle the SEC Championship Game. Last year, the committee didn’t penalize championship game losers in general. But this year, there’s a bigger chance it will be an important data point.

For instance, what if Alabama, which is No. 10 right now and the last team in the field, beats Auburn to qualify for the SEC championship, stays the last team (or two) in the field, then loses the SEC championship? What if Georgia loses to Georgia Tech, but gets in the SEC championship and loses that? (And don’t even get started on the Ole Miss scenario where it wins the Egg Bowl, gets in the SEC championship, but Lane Kiffin has announced or leaked that he’s leaving.)
