College football Week 10 odds: Does anyone care about Ohio State-Penn State anymore?
There are some college football games that you can circle before a season starts and know theyโll more than likely be somewhat important for the season. Rivalry games and games between powerhouse programs rarely disappoint. That theory is being tested this week.
Penn State goes to Ohio State in what, before the season, was probably going to make a top 10 list for most anticipated game this regular season. Now, the Nittany Lions have lost four games in a row and are without fired coach James Franklin and injured quarterback Drew Allar. Ohio State is the No. 1 team in the land and is favored by three touchdowns. The classic jersey and helmet combo will tell us itโs Penn State, but it might as well be Maryland or Minnesota given that spread.
Down south, Georgia and Florida will have their classic rivalry game from Jacksonville. The Bulldogs are doing their thing as the No. 5 team in the AP Top 25, but Florida, like Penn State, fired its coach and has four losses. Georgia is still only favored by 7.5 points on BetMGM, so this game could be competitive, but most of the general intrigue is lacking. Georgia is expected to win, and Florida is no longer on fired-coach watch.
As for actual top-25 matchups this week, there are three: No. 9 Vanderbilt at No. 20 Texas, No. 18 Oklahoma at No. 14 Tennessee and No. 17 Cincinnati at No. 24 Utah. The home team is favored in all three.
Vanderbilt is reaching lofty heights in the rankings, but the odds are going with Texas by 2.5 points. The Commodores have two ranked wins in a row, but LSU just fired its coach, and Missouri finished that game with its third-string quarterback, so itโs not a surprise to see the Longhorns, warts and all, favored.
Oklahoma at Tennessee is likely an elimination game for the College Football Playoff. Both teams have two losses. The Volunteers are favored by 3.5.
Utah is ranked after beating Colorado by a whopping 53-7 score. The Utes reentered the rankings, but with two Big 12 losses, they are going to need help to get back in the conference race. Beating Cincinnati, which is 5-0 in Big 12 play, would be a big start. Utah is favored by 7.5.
Every other top-25 team is favored this week. The closest spread for a ranked team is No. 15 Virginia favored by 4 points at Cal. Be wary of the weeks where no chaos is predicted.
Five AP Top 25 teams are on bye this week: No. 3 Texas A&M, No. 4 Alabama, No. 6 Oregon, No. 10 BYU and No. 19 Missouri.
Hereโs a look at the odds for every game involving an AP Top 25 team, plus some other notable games for Week 10. All games are on Saturday unless otherwise noted.
