The White House has offered an explanation after President Donald Trump was spotted wearing bandages on his hands. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said the bandaids on Trump’s hands are hiding bruises from “shaking hands.” While speaking with members of the media at a press conference this week, Leavitt was asked why Trump had been spotted “out and about a number of times with bandages on his hands.” Earlier this month, at a Cabinet meeting, Trump was seen wearing bandages on the back of his hand, and also during a recent visit to Mount Pocono. 

Responding to the question, Leavitt said that they have “given [the public] an explanation for that in the past.” She added that Trump is “literally constantly shaking hands.”

She continued: “The Oval Office is like Grand Central Terminal. He is meeting with more people than any of you even know about on a daily basis.”

Leavitt then said that Trump is taking “daily aspirin regimen” which can “contribute to that bruising that you see.”

One fan on X left a comment saying: “Lots of world leaders shake hands everyday. Don’t see bruising on theirs.” A second also echoed: “Okay, if this is true, why didn’t this happen during his first term but is a constant issue for the 2nd? Makes no sense.”

It comes not long after Trump appeared to lose track of his words, labeling Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell a “stiff”.

Earlier this week, Trump discussed the interest rate cut, which has lowered borrowing costs in the USA for the third time in 2025, while also criticising the Chair of the Federal Reserve, Jerome Powell, during the conversation.

Trump said: “We’re scheduled to be at 4%, which is pretty amazing because we have a, you know, a dead head- fed…fed hair…I mean, this guy…the head of the Federal Reserve is a stiff.”

The viral clip drew concern from followers online, with one X user posting: “If only we had a real physician to give us a real health report!”

Recently, Trump reportedly confirmed he has undergone more cognitive testing. He said on Truth Social: “In addition to the medical, I have done something that no other president has done, on three separate occasions, the last one being recently, by taking what is known as a cognitive examination.”
