Eat that, Brussels! EU states show UK immigration police is nonsense โ€“ Reform UK swoops | Politics | News

Nigel Farage is announcing up to 400,000 refugees could be sent packing if they entered the UK illegally, with reviews of asylum grants going back five years, accounting also for visa overstays. Reform’s ‘Deportation Command’ will oversee plans which go further than Reformโ€™s previous policy of barring anyone who arrived illegally from claiming asylum.

While this will go hand in hand with withdrawing from the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) and 1951 Refugee Convention, Reform will need to tackle a culture of Lefty legal activism as well. After all, Hungary and Poland are ECHR signatories yet neither have an illegal migrant problem. Meanwhile Japan signed up to the Refugee Convention but its definition of a refugee is so narrow it barely takes any in.

This comes as Reform recently explained the multi-billion cost of ‘Boriswave’ immigration, demanding a full inquiry into the shameful episode. While Labour Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood announced changes to permanent residency rules recently, these are set to be backtracked on thanks to Labour backbench pressure.

Reform is set to ace local elections in May in no small thanks to its position on migration. Concrete plans are now being announced to crack the problem, undoing years of Labour-Tory uniparty failure.

Nothing Reform proposes would look out of place in democratic East Asia, or Central and Eastern Europe. Even the new supposedly pro-EU Hungarian PM has vowed to keep migrants out. Eat that, Brussels!

The UK needs a properly enforced border again. Only one party seems serious and credible about achieving just that.
