Emmanuel Macron’s ‘disrespectful’ King Charles act exposed on GB News | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV
GB News fans had their say on President Emmanuel Macron after he was invited to inspect troops of the armed forces. Royal Correspondent Cameron Walker reported live from Windsor as the French President begins his three-day UK trip whilst being hosted by King Charles and Queen Camilla. It is the first state visit by a French president since 2008, with the last one being President Nicolas Sarkozy when he was a guest of Queen Elizabeth II. Today, in the Windsor sunshine, Emmanuel and his wife, Brigitte Macron, were given a full regal welcome with marching bands and cheering crowds. As he is the King’s guest, Macron is invited to inspect the guard of honour, and it is protocol that the King follow behind him. However, Macron faced criticism on GB News.ย
During a live report, Cameron Walker noted: “President Trump was heavily criticised for walking in front of the Queen… Now, Macron is walking in front of the King.”ย
Many fans have reacted to the footage, with one person saying on X: “I bet Macron is doing it on purpose. I bet he won’t get as much criticism as Trump did.”
A second also commented: “Just how much disrespect is our king going to be subjected to.” A third also said: “Of course, by the way Trump was ushered but Macron… Another matter altogether.” A fourth claimed: “Unlike Trump, Macron does it on purpose. He knows the rules, he’s an experienced European politician.”
However, one fan disagreed and said: “But he was talking to the officer which the King seemed quite happy for him to do. Stop making something out of nothing.” Another also defended Macron and said: “Heโs following the soldier who is telling him what to do.”ย
A third also chimed in: “Maybe because Charles has invited him to do so. Stop being such obnoxious [clowns].”
Emmanuel and Brigitte Macron arrived at RAF Northolt this morning, and both have a busy day ahead. The French President then went to London,ย where he will address MPs in the Houses of Parliament.ย
Macron and his wife were also at Westminster Abbey this afternoon to pay their respects at the grave of the Unknown Warrior. The grave is a memorial to the dead of World War I, notably for those who have no known grave.
This evening, he will attend a state banquet back at Windsor Castle. He is the first European leader to attend a state visit to the UK since Charles III was crowned King.ย
A spokesman from No 10 said: “We expect to make good progress on a wide range of priorities, including migration, growth, defence and security, which will deliver on the interests of both the British and the French public.”ย
