F1 Singapore Grand Prix live updates: Latest race buildup with George Russell starting on pole

The Singapore weekend has stood as a particularly big test for Red Bull.

The team arrived after back-to-back wins at Monza and Baku with Max Verstappen โ€” but Singapore is the total opposite to those high-speed, low downforce tracks.

If the RB21 car could perform well here, then it would serve as a big, big sign that it has got back into contention against McLaren at the front โ€” and give Verstappen some added hope for the title.

So far so good, with Verstappen qualifying P2 for todayโ€™s grand prix. But it will be todayโ€™s race where the true test lies.

In any case, Verstappen was relaxed about talk of the championship at the start of the Marina Bay weekend โ€” recognizing the 69-point gap to Oscar Piastri that makes any late charge a long shot. But it has also taken the pressure off:

๐Ÿ’ฌ โ€œIโ€™m not too stressed about anything. Iโ€™m just enjoying what Iโ€™m doing, having fun outside of F1, and just trying to do the best I can every single time that I jump in the car.

โ€œSome tracks naturally will be a bit better for us, some probably a bit worse. Maybe this one a bit worse.

โ€œIf we win it, we win it, great. If we donโ€™t, we donโ€™t. Life goes on! Iโ€™m just not too stressed about anything.โ€
