Farage delivers brutal 4-word verdict on Green Party’s Zack Polanski | Politics | News

Nigel Farage has come out all guns blazing against his Green Party opposite number Zack Polanski โ€“ branding his political rival a “pound shop Jeremy Corbyn”. The Reform UK leader took a swipe at Mr Polanski just says before voters across England will elect over 4,850 councillors in local elections on Thursday May 7.

Reform are predicted to reap massive gains against both Labour and the Tories, but the Far-Left-led Green Party, and the more middle-ground Lib Dems, are also expected to see a bounce. Mr Polanski fired a shot across Mr Farage’s bows on April 29 when he claimed the Reform leader was “running scared” from a one-on-one debate.

But after the Golders Green terror attack on the same day, Mr Polanski was forced into a humiliating apology after reposting criticism of Met Police officers using force to arrest the armed suspect who allegedly stabbed two Jewish men. Mr Polanski has faced criticism from Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and Met Police chief Sir Mark Rowley, as well as from within his own party.

Speaking to The Sun, Mr Farage said โ€œmask of the loony left has finally slippedโ€.

He added: “Itโ€™s clear that Zack Polanski is a pound shop Jeremy Corbyn. His party must never be allowed anywhere near the levers of power.”

Jeremy Corbyn, known for his far-Left ideals, led Labour to its worst ever defeat since 1935 at the general election in 2019 when he lost resoundingly to the Conservatives Boris Johnson.

Mr Farage isn’t the only person to call out Mr Polanski’s antics over yet another attack on the Jewish community in London. Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch said: โ€œI think Zack Polanski is a ridiculous person who says a lot of things that he doesnโ€™t really understand.

โ€œThe Green Party could pick whoever it wants as leader, but this is one of the reasons why I say there is only one party right now that is serious, that is working on plans and that understands what people are going through and is working on solutions to solve them, and thatโ€™s the Conservative Party.

โ€œThe Green Party has lots of airy-fairy ideas like legalising heroin and LSD that are actually going to destroy communities up and down this country.โ€

In an interview with BBC Radio 4โ€™s Today programme on Saturday, Sir Keir defended the two Met officers from criticism over the terror arrest and branded Mr Polanski โ€œdisgracefulโ€ and โ€œnot fit to lead any political partyโ€.

The original post on X shared by Mr Polanski had accused the officers of โ€œrepeatedly and violently kicking a mentally ill man in the headโ€ when he was already incapacitated from being tasered.

Alleged attacker Essa Suleiman, 45, is accused of trying to kill Shloime Rand, 34, and Norman Shine, 76, during a knife rampage through the streets of the north London suburb.

He appeared at Westminster Magistratesโ€™ Court on Friday morning and was remanded in custody.
