GB News erupts into furious migrant clash as host forced to intervene | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

Political commentator Andy Williams and campaigner for a Global Britain, Aman Bhogal, locked horns on whether the UK benefits system is too generous – especially to non-British citizens – on GB News. On Sunday’s show hosted by Nana Akua, Bhogal suggested mass deportations to tackle the migrant crisis, telling viewers: “People are simply here to take and take, and not be part of British culture.” However, a disagreeing Williams fired back: “That doesn’t really get to the nub of the problem, which is that there are about seven and a half million people on some form of Universal Credit. I think it’s really important that we don’t lay the blame for this problem at the door of migrants.”

Bhogal argued: “Why not? There are a million migrants.” Williams then stressed how he felt “the system is the problem”, not the migrants, as the debate heated up.

“What right do people who were not born here have to British taxpayers’ money?” Bhogal asked in response.

Host Akua interjected: “If you are a British citizen, I don’t think you should be deported, but if you are not, then you should have got your citizenship.”

Heading back to Bhogal, he stated: “If you are here as a foreigner and don’t want to be British, what on earth are you doing claiming British taxpayers’ money?”

An animated Williams then insisted the problem with the nation’s benefits system is how migrants are being demonised, but the other guest suggested it would be a “good idea to take away a million people claiming benefits”.

According to figures, more than 1.3 million migrants were claiming Universal Credit as of late 2025. Out of the 7.9 million people receiving Universal Credit last June, 83 per cent were British or Irish nationals.

When Bhogal was asked if he agreed that the vast majority of the problem does not lie with migrants, he said: “A good start would be to take away foreigners claiming British benefits.”

Williams’ mouth was wide open, and he shook his head before Akua stated she agreed with Bhogal.

“I don’t think there are many countries in this world where you are a citizen of their country and are claiming benefits,” Akua claimed. “In fact, lots of countries would not give you anything. I don’t think [Williams] agrees with us…”
