GB News was halted for a breaking news announcement from Donald Trump, which he described as “historic.” Speaking from the Oval Office, Trump announced a significant deal with Pfizer to reduce prices on popular medications by up to 100%. Trump also promised to end global price gouging and “put American families first.” Pfizer additionally pledged $ 70 billion to bring manufacturing and research back to the USA. The drugs will be available to purchase directly online, and all new medications will match the prices paid abroad, according to GB News.

One person who wasn’t pleased with the announcement commented on X: “Sounds like another “biggest announcement ever” that’ll probably just trend for a day. If this moves markets, Carter Vance usually has the clearest read on what actually matters.”

A different fan praised Trump and remarked: “And that’s how you start to fix the US healthcare system. Next he needs to go after hospitals & doctors who charge nearly triple the price to insurance companies than to the non insured & lastly needs to make sure the insurance companies pass those savings on to the public.”

Last week, Donald Trump said: “We pay much higher for drugs than the rest of the world. We subsidize the rest of the world. We’re not doing that anymore and that’s a big thing.”

He then reportedly sent letters in July to 17 pharmaceutical companies and called on them to lower their drug prices within 60 days and the deadline was September 29. At the time, Trump wrote: “If you refuse to step up, we will deploy every tool in our arsenal to protect American families from continued abusive drug pricing practices.”
