GMB viewers left fuming over Ed Balls’ ‘bias’ as he ‘ruins interview’ | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

Good Morning Britain host Ed Balls has been criticised by viewers watching at home for his interview with Tory minister Robert Jenrick. The presenter questioned Jenrick following reports that Nigel Farage had told donors he expects Reform UK to do an election deal with the Tories. Shadow Justice Secretary Jenrick swiftly denied reports of a pact between Reform UK and the Conservatives, saying: “There will be no deal.” However, ITV fans branded the interview a “complete waste of time” and slammed Balls for focusing on Farage.

One person claimed on X: “A complete waste of our time. Edโ€™s bias is obvious, and his demand for a soundbite or got-you moment is there for all to see. Terrible TV.”

A second also typed: “Ed Balls at his best, desperation creeping in that Nigel Farage is still polling top & leftie Ed trying to insist what Farage said or didnโ€™t, probably two practising lefties making the non-provable allegations. Ed believes it.”

A third said: “@RobertJenrick on ITV’s This Morning to discuss the very important subject of Jury trials. Ed Balls wonโ€™t shut up about Nigel Farage. Ruined the interview. @susannareid100 had to step in. Balls should not be on this programme. He is not unbiased.” [sic]

However, one ITV fan disagreed and typed: “There is just something so cute about Ed Balls #gmb.”

Reports emerged on Tuesday that high-profile Reform UK donors expect the two right-wing parties to form a pact ahead of the next election.

One donor claimed Farage expects an agreement with the Tories, either a merger or a cooperation pact, to smooth Reform’s path to electoral victory.

Speaking to LBC, Jenrick also said: โ€œWe’re two distinct political parties and my leader, Kemi Badenoch and indeed Nigel Farage, have both been very clear that there’s not going to be a pact or a deal. I don’t think it’s what the British people are interested in right now.

โ€œThey’re worried about their taxes going up, energy prices going up, food prices going up, all the challenges that people face in their daily lives.โ€
