Harry and Meghan to be snubbed by Trump for America’s 250th birthday | Royal | News
The Royal Family is gearing up for a star-spangled trip to the US to celebrate America’s 250th birthday next year – but California-based Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are set to be left out in the cold , multiple sources have told US celebrity news site Page Six.
Prince William and Kate Middleton are expected to join in the historic celebrations in July 2026 to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence , marking a momentous occasion for both nations.
Meanwhile, King Charles and Queen Camilla have been invited to Washington, DC for a State Visit in April by President Trump – if the 77-year-old monarch’s health allows him to make the journey, officials revealed to Page Six.
“We’re hoping all the senior royals will come over,” said a well-placed source. “This is going to be a huge year for both the US and the UK.”
Monarch feted at NYC birthday bash amid 250th anniversary buzz
The King, who recently celebrated his 77th birthday, was honored at a lavish bash in New York City last week, organized by the British consulate. The event, hosted by JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon at the bank’s swanky new midtown headquarters, was abuzz with talk of the upcoming 250th anniversary plans.
However, Montecito-based Harry and Meghan won’t be on the guest list, as the source confirmed: “Obviously the Duke and Duchess of Sussex aren’t working royals, so they will not be invited to any celebrations.”
Celebrity couple cling to titles despite non-working status
Despite their non-working status, the celebrity couple continue to make the most of their royal titles, as evidenced in a recent profile of Markle when she was announced by a house manager as “Meghan, Duchess of Sussex” to a journalist interviewing her for Harper’s Bazaar.
The rift between Harry, 41, and his older brother William remains deep, with the pair not having spoken in over two years.
Although Harry has expressed his desire for a reconciliation with his family, telling the BBC he did not want to fight any more as he was uncertain how much longer his father had, the damage caused by his and Meghan’s bombshell interviews, reality TV show, and tell-all autobiography has left the royals unable to trust them enough to welcome them back into the fold.
Trump’s disdain for Harry and Meghan
President Trump, meanwhile, has made no secret of his disdain for Harry and Meghan. When asked about potentially deporting Harry over his admitted drug use, Trump previously quipped, “I’ll leave him alone. He’s got enough problems with his wife. She’s terrible.”
Charles strengthens UK-US ties with unprecedented second State visit
In a sign of the strengthening ties between the UK and the US, President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump were afforded an unprecedented second State visit in September, which included a state banquet at Windsor Castle where Trump was seated next to a dazzling Kate Middleton, whom he mistakenly referred to as the Queen.
At the event, Charles commended Trump’s personal commitment to “finding solutions to some of the world’s most intractable conflicts,” emphasizing the deep connections between the two countries and the need to maintain cultural, trading and military links.
“Our people have fought and died together for the values we hold dear,” the King declared, underscoring the special relationship between the two nations.
As the US gears up for its 250th birthday celebrations, the Royal Family’s planned visit is set to strengthen the already robust ties between the two countries – but it seems Harry and Meghan will be watching from the sidelines.
