Counter-terrorism detectives have arrested a sixth man, a British-Iranian dual national, in connection with the RAF Fairford “terror plot”.

The 27-year-old was detained in Westminster as officers admit the “circumstances” are “hugely complex”.

Another five men, all British nationals, have been released on police bail after being held at gunpoint in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu revealed his intelligence officers warned Britain about an Iranian-sponsored attack.

Vicki Evans, senior national co-ordinator for counter-terrorism policing, said: โ€œThe investigation into the circumstances surrounding events in Gloucestershire is hugely complex, and our specialist teams are interrogating multiple lines of inquiry.

โ€œAs weโ€™ve made clear, weโ€™re looking at all possible angles, including possible foreign state involvement. Iโ€™d like to thank the public for their continued support and patience whilst we work through this investigation.โ€

Prime Minister Andy Burnham admitted there are “strong indications” Iran โ€œplayed a partโ€ in the RAF Fairford โ€˜terror plotโ€™ as he defended security chiefs from Donald Trump.

The Prime Minister insisted counter-terrorism detectives and MI5 have the โ€œstrongest grip and closest controlโ€ of the five British men released on bail.

But Mr Netanyahu revealed Israel may have passed on vital clues.

He said: โ€œYou talked about the thing in Britain. Do you want to hear how absurd things are there? And how far the anti-Israeli propaganda has gone?

โ€œWe gave the Brits the intel, that there was going to be an attack, and itโ€™s an Iranian-sponsored attack, and pretty much the next day they slap sanctions on us.

โ€œItโ€™s wild, the caving in, the collapse before the Islamist-Marxist alliance is very dangerous for the future of the West.โ€

President Trumpsaid the suspects, who were arrested in the early hours of Sunday morning near RAF Fairford, are โ€œseriously bad peopleโ€.

Officers confirmed they found petrol in the vans, but not any viable bombs.
