U.S.ย President Donald Trump delivered a characteristic meandering 45-minute address at a Rose Garden Club luncheon on Tuesday.
The president hosted the gathering at the freshly refurbished White House Rose Garden, which he controversially transformed by laying paving stones to create a patio for such occasions during the summer, sparking fierce criticism from both sides of the political divide. The project is estimated to have cost $1.9 million.
This follows his contentious alterations to the presidential portraits displayed in the Oval Office and the commencement of a new $250 million ballroom construction venture in the East Wing of the White House. Private donations will fund the project.
The property tycoon opened his remarks by boasting about his building initiatives before launching into a tirade about current affairs.
During his address, he made several peculiar and inflated statements that were particularly striking, reports the Mirror US.
Trump boasted about ‘beautiful Black women’ in Chicago wearing MAGA merchandise to avoid getting ‘mugged and shot’.
Trump made crude comments about Black women whilst celebrating his and the Republican Party’s achievements in attracting Black and ethnic minority communities, observing that they traditionally support the Democrats.
“It’s now harder for a Democrat because if you’ve seen what we’ve done with the Hispanics, the Black workers and Black men, and recently a poll came out with Black men and women, we’re doing so well.”

It remains unclear which poll he was referencing, although a recent AtlasIntel survey revealed that 54% of Black voters approve of Trump. The president believes the GOP has managed to attract key POC demographic groups through its robust position on crime.
“They want security, they don’t want to have their city destroyed,” Trump said at the Rose Club Garden event.
“Women in Chicago, beautiful Black women, walking around with red MAGA hats because they don’t want to be mugged and shot and everything else,” he continued. “Then you see a Democrat get up and tell you how safe it is, Chicago.”
Trump attempted to explain the copper wire issues with air traffic control systems after it sparked several blackouts.
Trump bemoaned the current difficulties facing air traffic controllers, which he attributed to the previous Biden administration.
“There’s Pete Buttigieg [Biden’s Secretary of Transportation], he spent billions of dollars on fixing the air traffic control,” Trump said.
Trying to clarify the workings of air traffic control systems, he stated, “They used copper wire going into glass wire. Any union electrician here or any non-union electrician would say you can’t hook copper into glass. It doesn’t work. They spent billions of dollars, they turned on the system, and it was stone cold blank.”
Multiple air traffic control system failures this year have been triggered by faulty copper wire dating back to the 1970s. Air traffic controllers were left traumatised by the ordeal, which caused travel disruptions.

Trump has said the Federal Aviation Administration is working to expedite the installation of new fiber optic lines at airports to address the issue.
The president labelled New York’s Democratic mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani as a “communist.”
Mamdani is a member of the Democratic Party and the Democratic Socialists of America, which campaigns for workers rights and seeks equal distribution of wealth.
“We have to win the midterms or else all the things are going to be taken away by the Radical Left lunatics,” Trump warned. “I mean, we’re gonna end up with a communist mayor in New York. Can you believe it?
“I always used to say we will not have a socialist elected in our country. Remember? I’d say that all the time. And I was right. We skipped socialist, we got a communist elected. So I didn’t tell a lie, I was right. We have a communist, not a socialist.”
Trump claimed GOP has a 92% chance of losing congressional control in the 2026 Midterm Election.

Addressing lawmakers, Trump voiced concerns that the midterms might not favour him despite all of his alleged achievements.
“The people understand. We’re giving you the biggest tax cuts in history. All of these things, it all adds up. We should do fantastically well in the midterms,” he began.
“The only thing wrong with the midterms is that, statistically, when you look, a president gets elected and for some reason and nobody, not even the great [Senate Majority Leader] John Thune, can explain to me.
“For some reason, even if it’s a reasonably good president- and we’ve had success like nobody-but for some reason you lose the midterm. I don’t know why,” he continued. “The odds are tremendously against us, like 92% of something. It doesn’t make sense.
“If you have a great presidency, it only makes sense that you win the midterms. So, there should be no reason for it,” he added. “There might be some dark, deep illogical reason where they want to vote the opposite way.”
Whilst it is broadly accurate that sitting presidents typically face challenges during mid-term election cycles – a pattern observed in recent elections globally – Express US was unable to locate any publicly available research to substantiate the extraordinary assertion at the time of publication.
Trump devoted substantial time to his tirade about the federal government shutdown that commenced at the start of the month. In a peculiar comparison, he likened Russ Vought, the White House Director of the Office of Management and Budget and a key figure in Project 2025 who has been cutting federal funding and positions, to the antagonist of the science-fiction series, Star Wars.
“We have Darth Vader. You know Darth Vader, right? Darth Vader is a man who is sitting — is that Darth? Stand up please Darth. Does everybody know — they call him Darth Vader, I call him a fine man,” Trump declared. “But he’s cutting Democrat priorities and they’re never gonna get them back.”
