Kayne West breaks silence as UK considers ban in Wireless festival row | Politics | News

Kanye West has broken his silence after calls to ban him from Britain ahead of his show at Londonโ€™s Wireless Festival. The rapper, known as Ye, is at the centre of a row over the appearance after previous antisemitic comments.

He said: โ€œIโ€™ve been following the conversation around Wireless and want to address it directly. My only goal is to come to London and present a show of change, bringing unity, peace, and love through my music.

โ€œI would be grateful for the opportunity to meet with members of the Jewish community in the UK in person, to listen.

โ€œI know words arenโ€™t enough โ€“ Iโ€™ll have to show change through my actions. If youโ€™re open, Iโ€™m here.โ€

Cabinet minister Wes Streeting said the Home Office is considering whether the rapper should be able to enter the UK after his previous antisemitic comments.

Mr Streeting told GB News: โ€œThe decision about whether he can enter Britain is one for the Home Office and that case is being considered. It would be inappropriate for me to comment.โ€

If the Home Office takes action, it would follow a similar decision by the Australian government last year. Canberra banned him after he released a song called โ€œHeil Hitlerโ€ and put the slogan on T-shirts.

The rapper has previously apologised and blamed his bipolar disorder.
