Kayne West breaks silence as UK considers ban in Wireless festival row | Politics | News
Kanye West has broken his silence after calls to ban him from Britain ahead of his show at Londonโs Wireless Festival. The rapper, known as Ye, is at the centre of a row over the appearance after previous antisemitic comments.
He said: โIโve been following the conversation around Wireless and want to address it directly. My only goal is to come to London and present a show of change, bringing unity, peace, and love through my music.
โI would be grateful for the opportunity to meet with members of the Jewish community in the UK in person, to listen.
โI know words arenโt enough โ Iโll have to show change through my actions. If youโre open, Iโm here.โ
Cabinet minister Wes Streeting said the Home Office is considering whether the rapper should be able to enter the UK after his previous antisemitic comments.
Mr Streeting told GB News: โThe decision about whether he can enter Britain is one for the Home Office and that case is being considered. It would be inappropriate for me to comment.โ
If the Home Office takes action, it would follow a similar decision by the Australian government last year. Canberra banned him after he released a song called โHeil Hitlerโ and put the slogan on T-shirts.
The rapper has previously apologised and blamed his bipolar disorder.
