An earth-shattering new poll could signal the end of days for Sir Keir Starmer as it shows challenger Andy Burnham will “absolutely destroy” the Prime Minister. In an explosive edition of the award-winning Daily Espresso podcast, James Walker, associate editor at the Daily Express, told colleague JJ Anisiobi a new poll had dropped which was the “worst ever for Starmer”.
James didn’t hold back in his assessment of the new polling and what it means for the beleaguered PM in a discussion with Assistant Editor JJ. “Keir Starmer is doomed mate, Keir Starmer is absolutely cooked”, said James, “And I’ll tell you why, the worst poll ever for Starmer has just dropped today, you’ll never guess what’s in it.”
James added: “Burnham is going to absolutely destroy Starmer and he’ll have no chance of surviving.”
A shocked JJ exclaimed: “Andy Burnham will destroy Starmer?”
Nodding James revealed the damning evidence for his claim that’s found in the new poll in the latest must-watch episode of The Daily Espresso podcast.

“Andy Burnham if he was in the leadership race with Starmer would beat him 59% of the Labour membership vote to 37%, and that’s before he’s really had a chance to say anything.”
James adds that the YouGov poll also shows the so-called King of the North, Burnham, would “also trash” fellow leadership contender former Health Secretary, Wes Streeting.
He revealed: “He (Burnham) would also trash Wes Streeting, which I am sure no one is surprised at, after Streeting’s absolute nightmare of a week last week… Andy Burnham would be Streeting head-to-head 80% to 10%.”
“Wow,” adds JJ, “Hang on, 80 to 10%, where is the other 10% then?”
James explains the poll does not make that clear, but he mentions it does predict it would be an “absolute bloodmath”.

Andy Burnham will be Labourโs candidate for the upcoming Makerfield by-election, the party has announced. Mr Burnham said he was โproud and humbledโ to be selected, and vowed to ensure the voices of people in Makerfield were โheard loud and clearโ.
It is understood that the Greater Manchester mayor was the only person shortlisted for selection by Labourโs ruling National Executive Committee, bypassing a vote by the local party. The decision sets up a contest between Mr Burnham and Reform UKโs Robert Kenyon, a local plumber who contested the seat for the party in 2024.
Mr Burnham has put himself forward as the candidate to โchange Labourโ, using a campaign video to call for a โnew path for Britainโ.
If he returns to Parliament, Mr Burnham is widely expected to challenge Sir Keir Starmer for the Labour leadership, but the Prime Minister has insisted he will not โwalk awayโ from Downing Street.
