Keir Starmer set to do the ONE thing that will infuriate Donald Trump | Politics | News

Donald Trump is unhappy with Keir Starmer. Very unhappy. His blazing attack on the Prime Minister for โ€œgiving awayโ€ Diego Garcia to Mauritius โ€œfor no reason whatsoeverโ€ in an โ€œact of great stupidityโ€ was an unprecedented attack.

The US President raged on social media that โ€œthere is no doubt that China and Russia have noticed this act of total weaknessโ€ in the Chagos Islands. Trump used his anger over Diego Garcia to justify yet again why the United States should be handed Greenland, urging Denmark and his European allies to โ€œdo the right thingโ€.

It was Sir Keirโ€™s response to the presidentโ€™s threat of tariffs – insisting it was wrong – that has irked the Republican strongman.

Sir Keir has a lot of work on his hands to patch this one up.

But within hours he is about to do the one thing which could infuriate the Don even further.

The hugely controversial Chinese mega-embassy is about to get the green light in a move that will immediately set alarm bells ringing in the White House.

Washington has previously warned against the move and there is a growing backlash against the plans amid fears it will boost the Chinese governmentโ€™s ability to spy on the UK and the rest of Europe.

And to add further spice to the mix, Starmer is expected to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing later this month.

It is part of Britainโ€™s latest attempts to cosy-up to the Communist superpower.

Trumpโ€™s relationship with China is an uneasy one.

He famously chastised the Chinese over the Covid 19 pandemic but is also wary of the worldโ€™s second largest economy and its rapidly developing military.

China is firmly aligned with Russia and Vladimir Putin so Trump wonโ€™t take kindly to Americaโ€™s supposed closest ally sidling up to Beijing.
