Menโ€™s March Madness 2026 Sweet 16 scores, live updates: Illinois leads Houston, Arizona in control vs. Arkansas

Texas guard Jordan Pope played the Longhornsโ€™ Sweet 16 game against Purdue on a broken right foot, he revealed late Thursday after UT lost a heartbreaker 79-77 to the Boilers.

Pope, a senior transfer from Oregon State, told reporters he broke his foot with about five minutes left in Texasโ€™ second-round win over Gonzaga. He totaled 33 minutes for the Longhorns. Pope was listed as questionable before the game, but said, โ€œI felt good somehow. I had a lot of fun. I thank the Lord that I was able to get through that.โ€

Pope is from the Bay Area and played at Prolific Prep. He had tons of family and friends in the stands Thursday at the SAP Center.

๐Ÿ’ฌ โ€œIt meant a lot. A moment that I’m sure I’ll remember for the rest of my life, something that’s a lot bigger than myself and my play.โ€
