Texas guard Jordan Pope played the Longhorns’ Sweet 16 game against Purdue on a broken right foot, he revealed late Thursday after UT lost a heartbreaker 79-77 to the Boilers.

Pope, a senior transfer from Oregon State, told reporters he broke his foot with about five minutes left in Texas’ second-round win over Gonzaga. He totaled 33 minutes for the Longhorns. Pope was listed as questionable before the game, but said, “I felt good somehow. I had a lot of fun. I thank the Lord that I was able to get through that.”

Pope is from the Bay Area and played at Prolific Prep. He had tons of family and friends in the stands Thursday at the SAP Center.
