Mogging – not to be confused with mugging or mugging someone off – refers to outshining or dominating someone, most often in looks.

You may even have mogged someone or been mogged yourself over the past 12 months.

The word is often traced back to the acronym AMOG, standing for Alpha Male of the Group, and has been variously associated with bodybuilding forums in the mid-2010s as well as the manosphere and incels.

But it now has a much more mainstream usage, as a playful put-down or a compliment, depending on the context.

It can be seen and heard in looksmaxxing communities -online groups where people swap advice on how to maximise their physical attractiveness.
