Al Horford struggled for the first three quarters of the Warriors’ play-in matchup against the Clippers, making him an unlikely candidate to emerge as one of Golden State’s heroes.

During the third quarter, I wrote during the game:

💬 “Horford has more turnovers (two) than made field goals (one) and has missed all three of his 3-pointers. He’s also a staggering -26 in +/-!”

What started as a tough watch exploded into a vintage Horford performance down the stretch. Horford made his first 3-pointer of the night with 5:37 remaining, hit another from the left corner at the 4:43 mark… and another on the Warriors’ next possession from the opposite corner. That hot streak pulled the Warriors within two points of the Clippers.

And that wasn’t all! Horford hit a fourth triple to give Golden State its first lead of the second half with 2:12 remaining.

Horford’s four 3-point makes in the fourth quarter – in four attempts – were crucial in keeping the Warriors’ season alive in a 126-121 victory.
