Oklahoma senior Faith Torrez mounted the beam, and the Sooners needed a hit. After a fall from Keira Wells and a 9.7375 from Addison Fatta, a major fumble from the Soonersโ€™ anchor would have taken them out of the running in Saturdayโ€™s NCAA gymnastics championship.

Torrez landed her flips right on and stuck the landing for a 9.95 to keep Oklahoma in it. The Sooners entered the final rotation on floor in second, just 0.075 points behind LSU, and then posted five scores above 9.9 to clinch the national title. The Sooners have now won eight of the past 12 national championships.

LSU finished second in Fort Worth, Texas, ahead of Florida in third and Minnesota in fourth, a program-best finish for the Gophers.

Floridaโ€™s and LSUโ€™s hunt to unseat Oklahoma will have to wait yet another year. The pair have regularly challenged the Sooners for some of the best scores in college gymnastics, with the Gators beating Oklahoma earlier this season for the SEC title. But yet again, the two teams couldnโ€™t beat the Sooners with the national championship on the line. LSU won its first championship in 2024, while Florida has won three, but none since 2015.

Minnesota, meanwhile, will celebrate a record-breaking season. Entering the postseason ranked No. 13, Minnesota upset No. 4 UCLA, No. 5 Alabama, No. 9 Arkansas and No. 12 Utah to make the final four, becoming the lowest-ranked seed to do so since seeding began in 2014.
