PMQs LIVE: Andy Burnham absent after sparking slavery reparations row | Politics | News
Louise Haigh will face a grilling at PMQs today as she stands in for Andy Burnham. The Prime Minister is missing the Commons showdown as he is attending a Commonwealth summit in the Caribbean.
Ms Haigh is likely to be pressed by her Tory opposite on the row over Mr Burnham preparing to make a grovelling apology for the UK’s role in the slave trade and questions over reparations.
Mr Burnham yesterday refused to be drawn on whether Britain could make further financial contributions, stopping short of direct reparations to Commonwealth countries. The Conservatives could also ask about Mr Burnham’s Brexit reset, which includes a new agreement on food and farming.
