Labour have defended the rollout of digital ID as convenient, with the minister responsible for the rollout showing that he can pay vehicle tax and more whilst he makes a cup of tea.

However he confirmed again this morning that the system would be voluntary, and suggested once again the Government will be consulting over the next 12 weeks as to how much it would cost later in the year.

There have been substantial changes to the scheme, which was initially mandatory and now is not, was to be rolled out from birth, and now wont be.
