Andy Burnham will return from New York City today, just hours after being told by the President of America that his party’s Chagos deal is “terrible”.

Prime Minister Burnham faced off against President Donald Trump at a tense press conference in the US yesterday.

It caused a diplomatic headache when the President branded his party’s Chagos deal as “terrible”, a point to which Mr Burnham appeared to agree.

The showdown threatens to leave the expensive deal, which would see the UK paying millions to effectively rent its own airbase back, in tatters.
