Politics LIVE: Keir Starmer braced for PMQs grilling as Northern Ireland chaos erupts | Politics | News

Keir Starmer will go face-to-face with Kemi Badenoch at PMQs as chaos rocks Northern Ireland. Last night, masked thugs forced some people to flee their homes, and multiple cars and homes were set alight in the disorder after a knife attack in the north of the city on Monday.

Sir Keir has said the disorder in Belfast was โ€œshocking and completely unacceptableโ€, adding: โ€œIt is clear that people were targeted last night because of their background and I will not tolerate it.โ€

The disorder comes after a brutal knife attack that rocked Belfast, with graphic video of the incident going viral on social media. A 30-year-old Sudanese man who was given leave to remain in the UK until 2028 was charged with attempted murder and will appear in court today.

Kemi Badenoch said she was โ€œabsolutely horrifiedโ€ by the attack in Belfast. She said: โ€œIโ€™m absolutely horrified. It is a horrific incident.โ€

Reform UK leader Nigel Farage said leave-to-remain status, held by the suspect, is handed out โ€œlike Smartiesโ€ and called the assault “shocking, barbaric, ghastly”.
