The United Kingdom will carry on working closely with the US despite mounting tensions between Donald Trump and the Prime Minister.
Pressed on whether the US and UK were on the same page following President Donald Trumpโs repeated criticism of Keir Starmer and other Nato allies not getting involved in the Middle East conflict, Yvette Cooper insisted the countries would continue to work together.
Speaking on BBC Breakfast, she said: “We have a deep, long-standing partnership with the United States and work closely with them on a whole range of different issues, on security, on the economy.
“Next week, for example, weโve got a conference on Sudan and trying to get peace in a settlement.”
Asked whether there is a good relationship, she said: “I would say this is not just a good relationship, itโs a really important relationship.”
She added: “Of course, there are areas of difference, and we have to be confident about the fact that there will always be areas where we disagree, and we can do so at the same time as maintaining important co-operation.”
