Sir Keir Starmer will face international allies, including Donald Trump, at a crunch meeting of the G7 today as fears over Labour’s stance on Defence funding grow. The Prime Minister, who is attending the summit in Evian, France, has faced growing domestic pressure to axe the ballooning welfare bill to pay for Britain’s armed forces.

He is also facing international pressure after the trillionaire business tycoon Elon Musk accused him of making a “police state” with the imposition of a ban on social media for children. The Prime Minister says he spoke to Donald Trump ahead of that announcement, and the two will come face to face at a meeting with Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky.
